BLADE OF ISOLATION: 絡みつく孤高の刃, translated as “Wreathing Blade of Isolation,” is Ivy’s nickname in the lore of SOULCALIBUR. She has become immortal due to her cursed blood, seeking a way to destroy Soulcalibur using alchemy, which would likely lead to her becoming mortal once more.
As such, we drew inspiration from the image of Ophelia (Hamlet) and painted Ivy as the tragic figure who perished among flowers- but unlike Ophelia, she cannot die and remains alive, surrounded by her animated weapon and flowers that may never be on her grave- The Wreathing Blade of Isolation.
MOMENT 0-0: Celebrating one of the best moments in the history of competitive SOULCALIBUR VI, Moment 0-0 firstly portrays the weapons and color schemes of Ivy and Voldo as utilized by Infectious and Dime in their legendary set. We’ve framed the stage as the Portland Rose Test Garden amphitheater, while adding in both a white koi swimming upstream and a black koi swimming downstream.
In traditional Japanese sumo, a white circle is used to mark a win, and a black circle is used to mark a loss. These are referred to as "白星 (white star)" and "黒星 (black star)" respectively. By having the koi in this pattern, the path of victory forward and the fall marked by defeat is portrayed in a cycle, representing the draw the competitors fought to.
